Upcoming Relaxer

So the original plan was to relax my hair Sunday the 4th, but then I realized labor day was this weekend and I have plans.

So I changed the date to September 1st, but I'm changing it again. I think it would be best to relax my hair tomorrow. Its not exactly the best time, especially with my hectic schedule, but my hair is shedding and breaking like crazy and I can't deal with it. I really wanted to wash it but that wouldn't make sense since I had already planned to relax my hair.

So I'm going to end my stretch because its not doing my hair any good now.

I'll definitely do a post on it.

*fingers crossed* I hope I retained some length even with the minor "hair loss".

This was a complete FAIL!

So last night broke my no heat rule...yup I flat ironed my hair. I did it because frankly I hate detangling my hair, especially when it is 11 weeks post. I figured flat ironing it would make it easier to style since I have a full class schedule and dealing with my hair isn't a big priority till I settle into my new routine.

But...that turned out to be a complete waste of time and energy :(

Here's why:

This was during the process

and the end ...

Then the next morning I decided to go to the cafeteria for breakfast and then it rained.

I used to check the weather in previous semesters but then I went home and got used to the Caribbean thing of not checking weather updates.

 (I have clothes on)

and ended up looking like this on the way back to me room.

I even wore a dress to breakfast...Fail!

So I'm back at my dorm room waiting for my next class, and I guess my hair will be back in a bun. I just can't believe I put direct heat on my hair for no reason, at least I used heat protectant.

Check-in & a snippet of my life

I've been away from the blogger world for a long time. So this is just a little check in post.

I go back to college tomorrow, so last few days has been just traveling and this whole bunch of scrambling around to get stuff together for school. So my hair was on the back burner for a bit.
I had been wondering if I should flat iron my hair, but then again I have been so committed to not using heat unless I had a touch up. Then I thought about getting my hair relaxed, but I'm not willing to have my hair overlapping (relaxing the already relaxed hair) just because I have a little new growth coming in.

What do I do for the first day back though??

Idk sooooo I guess I'll have to do a bun or something, though it may be boring. Accessories will just have to pick up the slack.

(Quick thought: Why didn't I buy Mane N' Tail's Detangler before?? I had little to no hair coming out after I used it *face palm*)

****Warning the following has nothing to do with hair, I hope you don't mind hearing about my life****

Bye Bye Jamaica
(pic I took of the mountain at the University of the West Indies, JA)

I left Jamaica last Wednesday, that was hectic in itself because I hate flying! I do love getting to my destinations though. I must say that for once, I didn't have any problems with the airport staff, Jetblue staff or my luggage being too heavy or whatever. So thank God for that.

Good News

I got asked by my boss at my internship if I wanted to continue writing for the online magazine and covering events while in the US. That was a good feeling to know that I was doing good enough that he would want me to continue writing :)

My dormroom

I had so many ideas for my dorm room and I think its coming all into place. I will put pictures of my room if it comes out fine. I never imagined I would be the "hot pink room theme" kinda girl. My fave color is purple, its a little girly but not so much if you know what I mean, pink is really girly to me but I hope I can make it look a little grown-up-ish.

When I get back tomorrow, I will be super busy, so hopefully I get to post some more this coming week, hair stuff that is.

Its my last week in Jamaica, so I've been trying to live it up, so to speak. I went to my friend's pool shindig on Sunday and I had a good time but I doubt my hair did.

I went into the pool without wetting my hair or putting conditioner on it, as I heard should be done. So I'm assuming my hair soaked up a good amount of chlorinated water. It was somewhat saved by the overnight baggying (with water and Hot Six Oil) I did the night before *fingers crossed*.

I don't know if this is as bad as I believe it to be but after my first dip in the pool, my hair dried out while we played games and stuff on the deck (it felt really crunchy), then I went back in the pool -_- to soak up more chlorine.

Oh but I wasn't done yet, I didn't get the chlorine out of my hair till hours later. I used VO5 Clarifying Conditioner and then followed with VO5 Moisture Milks, which was left to sit on my head for about 5 mins. I was over a friend's house so I couldn't do my deep conditioning, and I just got home and I'm so not in the mood to deep condition now.

However, tomorrow is a new day and I will give my hair some much needed TLC so it can recover from my onslaught and from the drying effects I have experienced from the weather.

On another note, a little personal here, but my boyfriend who reminds me everyday of how much he loves me decided to inform me that he has no belief that my hair could ever be as long as bra strap length!!
Needless to say I was quite appalled! Like WTF!! Oh but he wasn't finished, he went on to say that if my hair ever got that long he would buy me the SUV/car of my dreams.
So lets just all take into consideration that he has little to no money, just like me because we're both finding our way through this whole "young adulthood" phase; this means him affording my dream car is nowhere near right now, unless he hits some sort of jackpot!

I don't mean to make him sound bad because I know he loves me and I in no way will use this to judge the state of our relationship :) but honey where is the support!

So this calls for a new goal, wouldn't you think?

I always wanted to just get to APL, and then maintain it, if while maintaining it I got to further lengths then more power to me, but now I really want to be BSL...

..not for the vehicle of course (I'm sure I'll be able to buy my own stuff because I'm a go-getter), but just to prove him WRONG!

having the haters so close will never phase me because proving to strangers wouldn't make me so motivated like how proving to people close to me would.

You know what I mean, right??
